I first saw actual surfers in person on a visit to Northern California a few years ago. It was really something to watch them, if just for a few moments, ride a wave in. Even though I have lived inland all of my life, there's a side of me somewhere buried in there that really identifies with and loves the ocean. I don't think you'll ever find me on a board, but I will always be fascinated by the idea and could lose myself for hours watching.
This was from our second night in Newquay. The waves weren't massive, but it was a nice autumn afternoon and the surfers kept going out until darkness loomed.
