Bath Abbeyby ~marksda1

Photography / Architecture / Exterior

The city of Bath has a long history, it’s very name reflects it’s ancient status during the times of Roman occupation. The water at the present site of Bath were already considered sacred by local inhabitants before the Romans arrived. The area has been occupied long since.

The Abbey is now an Anglican parish church but was originally a Benedictine monastery. The current appearance, perpendicular Gothic architecture, is owed largely to its last rebuilding in the 16th century.

This shot was taken with a fish eye lens as dusk set on the Abbey.
